I’m a web-cartoonist/comic strip artist. As someone who does this every single day, I’m also a huge fan of reading other web-comics and newspaper comics.
And as a fan of reading comics, I know how hard it can be to find new ones. So… I’m going to help you out, oh person who likes to read comics, and I’m going to list off all the comics I try to read on a daily basis. I confess, this is also for selfish reasons, making it easier for me to cruise my comics from one single source.
The following are the comic strips I read as often as I can (I’ve also included an explanation as to what kind of comic each are, since some might require reading up a story-line or getting to know the characters a little for them to be funny):
The Abominable Charles Christopher by Karl Kerschl (story driven, and totally sweet)
The Adventures of Dr. McNinja by Chris Hastings, inked by Kent Archer, colored by Carly Monardo (story-driven)
The Comics Curmudgeon by Josh Fruhlinger (not a single comic, but an awesome site anyway)
Cyanide and Happiness by Kris Wilson, Rob DenBleyker, Matt Melvin, or Dave McElfatrick (they rotate which artist draws on what day, of a random nature)
Dinosaur Comics by Ryan North (character driven)
Dresden Codak by Aaron Diaz (story-driven)
Garfield Minus Garfield by Dan Walsh (via Jim Davis’s Garfield-producing factory)
Hark! a Vagrant by Kate Beaton (of a random, often historical nature)
Married to the Sea by Drew and Natalie Dee (of a random nature)
Opus by Berkeley Breathed (character driven, political) NOW-DEFUNCT (sadly)
Pearls Before Swine by Stephan Pastis (character driven, often makes fun of newspaper comics)
Penny-Arcade by Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins (character driven, usually filled with gamer-culture in-jokes)
The Perry Bible Fellowship by Nicholas Gurewitch (of a random, often disturbing nature)
Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal by Zach Weiner (of a random nature)
Simulated Comic Product by Kevin Forbes (of a random nature)
Sheldon by Dave Kallett (character driven)
Shortpacked! by David Willis (story driven, usually filled with geek culture in-jokes)
Wondermark by David Malki (of a random nature)
